Advanced similarity mode in ProSearch is based on Markify proprietary search algorithm, built using predictive AI and trained on real legal cases (opposition and 2d citation data, more than 1.5 million conflicting pairs analyzed).
Our algorithm covers all the usual search strategies applied in manual searching:
-identical results
-orthographic similarity and misspellings
-prefix/infix/suffix variations
-vowel & consonant similarity
plurals, stemming, abbreviations, etc
At the same time, Markify uses a statistical approach to ranking potential results, based on how often analogical cases have led to a conflict.
By default, ProSearch provides search results in Risk Levels 1 and 2 (very high and high risk levels)
Since June 2025, it has also been decided to add an option for expanding risk level similarity in ProSearch tool, including middle risk level (Risk level 3).
As part of our ongoing platform enhancements and based on customer feedback, we’ve expanded the ProSearch similarity configuration to include Risk Levels 1 to 3 — covering very high to medium risk results.
The default setting is at Risk Level 2, but you have the flexibility to adjust it using the "Change" link next to the Advanced Similarity Mode option. The system will memorize your latest preference.
This way, you can switch between the following, as needed:
- RL1 / Risk Level1/ Very High Risk Level - orthographically identical results
- RL2/ Risk Level 2/ High Risk Level - screening/ knockout similarity
- RL3/ Risk Level 3/ Medium Risk Level - deep screening similarity.
Please note that enabling the next risk level may result in slightly slower performance due to the additional data being processed. You can revert to RL2 at any time using the same feature adjustment.
At the same time, keep in mind that the same Risk Level configuration is applied across all options that involve Advanced similarity: pure trademark search, trademark + pharma search (Advanced similarity + POCA), and industrial design search.
