Markify Upgraded WIPO database for trademarks

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Key adjustments covered by the upgrade

The recent Markify data upgrade for the WIPO database introduced significant enhancements aimed at improving data depth, accessibility, and usability for users. Key adjustments include:

  • Expanded Data Sets: The WIPO original source data has been enriched with additional trademark details from national databases, enabling users to analyze a more comprehensive set of records.
  • Integrated National Records: Links between national records and WIPO records have been established, providing users with seamless access to local trademark details. This reduces the time spent on manual cross-checking and ensures data consistency.
  • Opposition Rule Transparency: Each designation now includes detailed opposition rules, helping users better understand potential conflicts and deadlines in specific jurisdictions.
  • Enhanced Data Visualization: Updates to the Markify full record details page make it easier to navigate and understand complex trademark information, allowing users to make informed decisions more quickly.

Overview of the Markify full record data structure

List view of Markify results displays few most important details:

  • Search reports indicate the database as WIPO, and optionally, you can add the designations column (can be enabled through the view options/custom columns):

  • Watch reports indicate the database as WIPO, and upon hovering the mouse over Deadline for opposition cell, you can see details per designation:

However, upon clicking Trademark name or number, you can access the Full record with all details. The full record page also provides the link to the original WIPO record through the “View in the office of origin”

Upon checking full records for WIPO marks, you can now unfold more details for "Designation(s) under Protocol" section by switching on the "Show full names and Designation Statuses" slider:

This data correlates with the original Designation statuses from WIPO:

(The analyzed example from WIPO is available here)

Moreover, right below the Designations under protocol section, you have a link to "Brief info for all designations".

Upon clicking it, you will see an additional menu that summarizes information on publication identifier and date, opposition period term, and rule per each designation country. Also, each country name or code is a hyperlink that will take you to the detailed information located at the bottom of the page:

After the Recordals section of data, at the bottom of a full record page, you have a section for "International Registration details", where all available info is specified for each designation, displayed in alphabetical order (this is what the links from the screenshot above direct you to):
